Check the reading level of the book your child is reading.
Steps 1. Enter Microsoft Word
2. Select Tools
3. Select Options
4. Select Spelling & Grammar
5. Check Show Readability Statistics * Every time spell check is used a box of information will appear.The line reading Flesh-Kincaid Grade Level pertains to a grade level. * Type a passage from the story or book of at least 100 words.Then spell check the passage.The Flesh-Kincaid Grade Level line will inform you of the grade level for the passage you typed.This same process should be completed with a passage from the beginning, middle and end of the book.Then find the average of the three scores and that is the reading level of the book your child is reading.
